Bright, clean, and comfortable

My first time a loving hut location. The interior is bright, clean, and comfortable. My friend ordered pho and I ordered the wonton noodle soup. The soups were delicious. It's been awhile since I've had wontons as I don't eat meat, but I thought vegan wontons seemed to have a pretty good consistency and flavor.
I'm interested in checking out the other loving huts to see what types of variety they have in their menus.

One of my most favorite vegan places

Really good place to go if you want good vegan vietnamese vermicelli noodles. They call it teriyaki pork noodles there, but to me its more like vietnamese vermicelli that would be know as bun. I've tried their soup and other dishes, but none of the fried stuff (baskets?). Their vegan cake is very delicious as well.
The restaurant inside is very nicely decorated, clean, and brightly lit. The furniture is very modern looking. The workers there, I hear, are actually volunteers and they are all very nice and helpful when you can't decide on what to order.
One of my most favorite vegan places in the area :)

Loving Hut is one of my favorite vegan/vegetarian places to eat!

Yes, yes. I love Loving Hut! I was around the corner and decided to stop by Loving Hut for a quick solo bite (though I always have a book with me, this time it was This is a Book, by Demetri Martin - hilarious). The restaurant wasn't bustling, but there were three other people there. The servers were a bit harried, so I sat down and slowly perused the menu.
I had it narrowed down to the Bliss Chow Mein and the Divine Soy Chicken (Golden Divine, I think it's called?)... I went for the noodles in the end since I've been trying to cut down on rice. I was not disappointed! The noodles came with grilled soy, very tasty, broccoli, carrots, other leafy green veggies, fried with a sweet garlic sauce. Yes it was good. I had to lay down the line, though, and eat only half of the big plate of noodles. That was difficult. Took the rest home.
For dessert I opted for tiramisu. I took this part home. I was a bit embarrassed because I was laughing to myself reading my book, and noodles plus laughter equals no good. The tiramisu was strange, I mean I know it's going to be different from regular tiramisu, but it looked so good! And tasted... weird. If there was more coffee in it or something, that would have made it much better. As it was, I would not recommend it.
So next time I'll try another veganese dessert or just stick with the entrees, or try an appetizer. Loving Hut is one of my favorite vegan/vegetarian places to eat! Try it out if you're craving Asian food and are a cheatin' vegan trying to get on the straight and narrow path. Loving Hut will help.

I'm glad we had our first experience at Loving Hut!

I understand that decent vegetarian food is very difficult to come by, much less a delicious vegan meal. However, Loving Hut exceeded my expectations and has turned me on to a possible vegetarian diet?! (just kidding about being a vegetarian, but maybe for a few days!)
My boyfriend & I have been waiting for a couple of weeks to try this restaurant, and the two times that we had dropped by while conveniently passing the area, the place was closed. It was around 3:30PM, and although it stated the hours on the front door that it was closed, the manager/owner came running to the door. He opened the door for us and excitedly (but warmly) welcomed us in. How accommodating for them to open the door for us 1.5 hours early!
We were seated, and he left us to decide on what we'd like to order. He came by several minutes later with a big ol' smile and asked us if we were ready to order. I had the classic vegan burger and a tiramisu. My boyfriend had what I believe to be "golden" nuggets. We ended up not consuming most of the meal at the restaurant and asked for the check although he did come back multiple times to ask if we needed anything else. The owner had realized that this was strange, so he asked us in a concerning voice if there was anything wrong with the food. There wasn't! How could there be? We received all our food within 10 minutes of ordering.
We ate the food later at night. The classic vegan burger came with an order of fries that were seasoned perfectly; they were crunchy, fresh, and hot when they arrived at the table (it was actually the only part I tasted at the restaurant). The actual burger itself was different, but it's a taste that's difficult to describe. You can hardly tell that it's not made from real meat. The golden nuggets were the same -- difficult to pinpoint the difference, but it was delicious even when it was heated up again a second time. The tiramisu was...strange. It wasn't sweet, but it was flavorful in a not-so-overwhelming way. I was expecting a solid, fluffy cake. It wasn't. It was mushy and a little grainy. It was "good," but it wasn't worth the $ which is my only complaint.
I was excited to try vegan food, and I'm glad we had our first experience at Loving Hut! I will be back again, and if not for the food, it will be for a comfortable environment and attentive service.

Loving Hut is a great option for lunch

Thanks to the recommendation of a friend, I discovered the Loving Hut. Another great entry in theold tradition of 'I can't believe it's vegan' cuisine with it's primarily vietnamese style fare, nearly indistiguishable from their non-vegan counterparts. Located in Alhambra, the restaurant itself appears pretty new and quite spacious. Every time I've gone, seating has been plentiful and you get to eat in a relaxed atmosphere with SE asian satellite TV piping thru the wall mounted plasmas.
Highlights from previous meals included their faux beef and vermicelli noodles, with a look and texture indistinguishable from beef, soy chicken nuggets with mayo dipping sauce and the lemon grass rainbow, which was soy chicken seasoned with spicy lemon grass and garnished with cucumber, salad and tomatoes. Since many of these are dishes familiar to me, coupled with the realistic flavors, I forget I'm eating vegan once dinner is served.
In addition to the traditional standards, the chefs also experiment and try out more unique creations with mixed results, but enjoyable to me nonetheless. The fried garlic tofu balls are a little bit on the dry side but is helped out with the mayo and salt/pepper dipping sauces. Sea of love is an interesting mushroom based appetizer that is wrapped in ginger, soy protein & nori, then deep fried into some truly, alien looking shapes. I like the creative attempt at presentation but it may turn off a few. In addition they do make your standard vietnamese style noodle soup dishes and I ordered a Bun Hue which offers a mix of rice noodles, soy ham, tofu slices and non meat based broth which tastes as good as the real thing.
With a great selection of dishes, cheap prices and easy parking (either on the street or parking in the rear), Loving Hut is a great option for lunch (specials available during lunch hour) or dinner for vegans and non alike.

I even had the coconut ice cream, which is my ultimate favorite

Omg I love this place! The only reason why id dint give 5 stars is because they push veganism a bit too much with celebrity photos and sometimes on their tvs.
So I'm a full on carnivore (because I will never NOT eat my ma's authentic cooking-- it's her livelihood) BUT I almost considered going vegan after eating here. I had the lemongrass rainbow dish, the spring rolls, and the eggplant tofu dish... all soooo freaking unbelievably delicious and full of flavor and all with fantastic texture. I could not believe this stuff is vegan, but so happy that is was! I even had the coconut ice cream, which is my ultimate favorite, and it was exactly what I was looking for!
I love those three dishes soooo much, that I order the same thing each of the three times I've been here. I can't wait to introduce it to my vegan and non-vegan friends and family. Just wish I had one closer to me!
The atmosphere is pleasant... mellow, with nice white furniture and little earthy accents. The staff are super friendly and willing to talk "veganism" with you.
I recommend coming with friends so you can share multiple dishes "family style". More fun that way!
Bon apetit!

It is a guilt-free, dilemma-free, and naturally-flavored meal

've always been very curious about this restaurant and wanna explore what they sell to customers. First thing i learn is "Vegan" is different than "Vegetarian" though the explanation or definition sounds similar to me. I'm glad the owner not bombing me with tons of religious talk. The healthy eating is more sweet and conscious toward animals and hope the way they promote diet could stop the cruelty about all "beings".
I ordered "Guru's Curry" that contains a lot of ingredients -- bell peppers, fried patato & Japanese yam (purple color), mushrooms, tofu and soy-made something~ Yummy when served HOT. It's delicious that you might not notice (or care) it's "vegan".
The waiter is very friendly and i like the seating inside. Neat. Clean. Light-colored. Spacious and peaceful. I'm sort of disappointed that they don't have the Rose Latte i want as the machine making milk foam is broken.... The owner is very kind to offer me Organic tea and refill it for me to keep it warm all the time.
After talking to her, i tried the "Peace-O-Vegan" Tiramisu: No egg. No milk. Low Fat. Low Sugar. Pure Vegan!! I have to admit that i ordered it out of my pure curiosity and still not found my answer from all its taste...honestly speaking, it is definitely NO DELICIOUS if we talking about dessert. But i never try vegan pie or cake, so this might be rated as excellent vegan tiramisu?! Sorry i have no clue. Does it worth a try? Ummmm... i would say yes if you are the kind of person like me to "try everything once, especially the ones that tempts/ attracts me"
Lastly, what i wanna express is...you don't have to be a vegetarian to come and love here. And it is a guilt-free, dilemma-free, and naturally-flavored meal. It is "Vegan"!!

The food was way better than I expected

I was very borderline about this place (b/t a 3 and a 4)
No knock on the food. I thought it was great. Got a very Vietnamese style dish (vermicelli, eggrolls, mint, etc). Everything tasted great and of course, the eggrolls and protein were pretty indistinguishable from meat when u eat it all together. Even the replacement for fish sauce was good. Also, the fried tofu is as good as any I've had b4.
When we started eating, the food was way better than I expected, and I'd definitely want to come here again (just on a slow day ).

I did feel healthy eating this stuff - that's a plus!

My friend and I came here around lunch time on a weekday. It was quiet and there was plenty of parking in front of the restaurant.
We ordered the Eggplant Tofu, the Golden Rolls & Teriyaki Vermicelli, and the Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream.
My friend loved the Eggplant Tofu. I thought it was ok (though I'm not the greatest fan of eggplant). I did like the second dish, especially the Golden Rolls. And the cake/ice cream... well, the ice cream tasted very strongly of soy. And the cake was blah. I assumed all vegan cake tasted like that, but my friend insisted she had had a vegan choc cake elsewhere that tasted just like the real thing. You won't find that here.
I did feel healthy eating this stuff - that's a plus! And the service was pleasant and prompt. If I lived in the area (or if I was a vegan), I could see eating here more often. As it is, I don't think I'll come here again. But I'm glad I tried it.
